Checking Chrome Version(Windows or Mac)
Open Chrome: Start your Google Chrome browser.
Find the "More" Menu: Look for the three vertical dots (or sometimes three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner of the Chrome window.
Go to Help: Click the three dots, then move your mouse down to the option that says Help.
Click "About Chrome": In the little side-menu that pops up, click on About Google Chrome.
See the Version: A new tab or window will open. Right under the main "Google Chrome" heading, you will see a long series of numbers. This is your version number.
Update Your Chrome Version
Good News: Chrome usually updates itself automatically in the background! However, if you've closed your browser for a while, you might need to trigger the update manually.
Manual Update (The Easiest Way)
Go to the "About Chrome" Page: Follow the exact steps above for checking the version:
Click the three dots ( ⋮ ) in the top-right corner.
Go to Help > About Google Chrome.
Automatic Update:
When this page loads, Chrome will automatically check for a new version and start downloading it if one is available. You'll see a small status bar that says "Updating Google Chrome."
If it's already updated, it will simply say "Google Chrome is up to date."
Relaunch Chrome (Crucial Step!):
Once the update is finished, you will see a button appear that says Relaunch or Restart.
Click this button! Chrome will close and immediately open back up, applying the new version. If you don't click this, the update won't actually be finished.
💡 Pro Tip: If you see the three dots menu ( ⋮ ) in the corner has turned into a green, yellow, or red circle, it means an update has been waiting to install for a few days. Click it, and then look for the option that says Update Google Chrome near the top.
