The facilitator plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the students in teletherapy by serving as the link between the student, provider, teacher and school.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Inform the provider of absences or missed sessions as soon as possible.
- Serve as the liaison between the teacher and provider for scheduling.
- Share student absences or upcoming school activities.
Before the Session:
- Check your email for the day’s schedule
- Communicate any student absences or changes in student availability to the Provider.
- Set up a private and quiet session area.
- Ensure the computer is ready for sessions: equipment is in place, plugged in and working.
- Walk the student(s) to the session.
During the Session:
- Sign the student(s) into the session via the unique Parallel link provided to you.
- If confidentiality is needed for the session - be nearby (within eyesight, but not earshot) to assist with student needs.
- Minimize any distracting sounds or disruptors.
- Collaborate with the Provider on specific student needs.
- Remain present during the entire session.
After the Session:
- Walk the student(s) from the session.
Best practices:
- Exchange phone numbers with the Provider.
- Make sure students do not leave the therapy room tab/window on their device.
