Assessment sessions are different from other online therapy sessions in their approach. In this role, both the student and provider rely on you to carry out the following tasks during each assessment session.
General Roles and Responsibilities:
- Inform the provider of absences or missed sessions as soon as possible.
- Serve as the liaison between the teacher and provider for scheduling and paperwork.
- Bring the student to their assessment session.
- Remain present during the entire session.
Before the Session:
- Set up the testing site in a quiet and private location.
- Check your email for the assessment schedule/link.
- Ensure the computer is ready for sessions: equipment is in place, plugged in and working.
- Gather the student response booklet(s). You will also need a number two pencil without an eraser.
- Booklet(s) are obtained through the following process:
- Digital
- Provider emails digital student response booklet(s) to the district champion/point of contact (for one time use)
- District champion prints booklet(s)
- District champion delivers booklet to facilitator
- Hard Copy
- Provider mails a hard-copy of the student response booklet to the district champion
- District champion delivers booklet to facilitator
- Digital
- Booklet(s) are obtained through the following process:
- Walk the student(s) to the session.
During the Session:
- Sign the student(s) into the session via the unique Parallel link provided to you.
- Remain nearby (within eyesight, but not earshot) for the duration of the session in order to assist with student needs
- Follow any guidance given by the provider.
- Do not assist or encourage the student in any way.
- Minimize any distracting sounds or disruptors.
- Direct any questions from the student back to the provider.
- If you observe unusual behavior or the student is not following directions, let the provider know.
- Only take breaks when the student takes breaks.
After the Session:
- Walk the student(s) from the session.
- Prepare the completed response booklet(s). Ensure the student's full name and date of birth is on the booklet.
- Return the completed booklet to the district champion or scan and email the completed booklet to the provider.
- File the completed booklet per your district’s policies.
Best practices:
- Exchange phone numbers with the Provider.
- Make sure students do not leave the therapy room tab/window on their device.
